As I'm sure others new to obtaining a toll-free number have discovered, trying to learn about the various services, plans, and providers can be overwhelming. There are pitfalls: The fine print of some contracts indicates that the 800-number you obtain through them "belongs" to--or is leased by--the service provider, and if you wish to change providers, you will have to change numbers as well. Alternatively, the service provider
can delay your request to transfer, creating another headache. Another problem not clearly disclosed by provider sites is the higher per-minute charges for instate calls in based on intrastate tariffs in some states, in my case over .07 per minute.
With my frustration level rising while navigating provider sites and learning about the system, I found Bill Quimby's "TollfreeNumbers.com" site and experienced immediate relief! TollfreeNumbers.com provides straightforward information about obtaining a toll-free number. More importantly, the site assists its clients with securing and registering an 800 number that belongs solely to the client, along with an informative guide to choosing a service provider. What a great public service!!!
