Resporg Descriptions & Websites
We used to give out the phone company name and trouble referral number for the phone company responsible for every toll free number. But unfortunately lawyers for the SMS made us take that information down, claiming that we aren’t allowed to give the Resporg data out to the general public. So rather than give out Resporg data, I’ve spent quite a bit of time collecting my own data.
We have researched all of the active Resporgs to come up with a more descriptive statement without using the SMS data and where possible their websites. The descriptions we use on the Instant 800 Lookup are listed below with the links to their websites. This should make our system as helpful as possible without giving out any SMS data. Not every phone company is listed, just the ones we have information available for.

On your site, you have references to long distance companies with some cryptic notes like “don’t know much” or “don’t have much information about this company”.
WHY NOT create a wiki of carriers. Let your customers add to the wiki with what they know and who they know at the carriers that can get things done.

Thats a great suggestion and we’re working on something that would probably be something like what you’re describing.
We’re making a more thorough providers section that will break the different carriers down and provide a lot of detailed information as well as allowing people to add comments. Our goal there is to do a reasonable amount of research and provide the type of information that they wouldn’t give on their website. That has been slower than we had expected because we’re trying to make it thorough so it will be a valuable resource for people.
And the other part about your question for ones that say “we don’t have much information” or something like that, some of those aren’t listed above because we really don’t have any information about them. That basically means we have a name and address in the resporg data but couldn’t find much else out about them.
The bottom line is that we will certainly continue to post as much information about all the carriers and resporgs as possible.

There’s a couple that have changed a little since I put this up. That one’s up at the top of the list. “10-10 type dial-around service provider.” That’s the description for Signal One in Florida.
