Questions filling out resporg change forms

800 number resporg change formThis post is intended to help you with the answers to some common questions people sometimes have filling out Resporg forms. The most common question is who is the current, previous or old resporg/carrier?

We are the old carrier, our official resporg name is Resporg.com and our resporg ID is QZA01. You can also include our fax number (800-FAX-0095) on the form if there’s room, although you don’t send that form to us, but it might save a couple seconds for the people within the phone company who do.

Another common question is what do they mean by customer information? That would be your own information. They will tell you that it has to match EXACTLY which is true for most other phone companies because they look for any excuse to reject transfers. But we try to process them faster and look for enough to confirm that it’s coming from the right owner because we want to release this for you.

You probably want to fill that information out the way you want it listed with the new phone company. If that’s different than how you signed up for it with us, just put the original information you gave us on the margins or squeezed somewhere on the form. That way it won’t get entered into the new carrier but we will see it and know its coming from the right place so we can release it.

If the form asks if you want switched or dedicated service, the regular service is switched. Dedicated service is only for very large customers and you would know if you were using dedicated service. Some Canadian carriers ask for the address of the releasing phone company. Our address is 2517 Rt. 44, 11-222 Washington Hollow Plaza, Salt Point, NY 12578.

You get the transfer form, often called a resporg change form or a responsible organization change form, from the new carrier. We’re building a directory of companies with their forms, but that’s not quite ready yet. You don’t send that information to us. All you have to do is give that form to the new carrier so they know where to send the calls and who to bill and they will send it to us when they’re ready for us to release it.

You don’t have to change your outbound long distance service in order to set up a toll free number. If you don’t want to change your outbound long distance service and are using the forms we include in the toll free manual for Opex and PNG, just the select toll free only option. The terms at the bottom still include or mention outbound long distance service because you CAN change your long distance if you select that option. But unless you specifically request that, this form won’t change that.

The billing address is the address that your phone bill and credit card bill are sent. The physical address is the actual physical location if that’s different than the billing address. Your SSN or FEIN number is required by most phone companies today because you are paying for the service after it’s been delivered.

The number you’re transferring from us is already active so it goes under “Existing Toll Free Numbers.” You should only use our Opex or PNG form for numbers coming from us You can transfer multiple toll free numbers with a single form. You can use the additional spaces on the form or attach a separate list for bulk 800 transfers. For volume transfers you can notify us in addition and we will try to coordinate with the carrier to insure a smooth transfer.

One of the most important things I’ve seen a lot of people learn the hard way is that you should always follow up and never assume that your number was transferred just because you sent the paperwork to them.

These are the most common qustions but I’ll anwer additional ones if they come up. Just add them as comments here…

How soon can I port this number? Also, I’m looking at the port request form now and I’m not sure what to enter for service address, subscriber information, cnam information, or carrier btn. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Joe

      Hi Joe,

You can port a toll free number right away. All of that information you mentioned is YOUR information. The only other thing is the carrier billing telephone number, which you could put down the toll free number for.

All that really matters is that we are able to tell it’s coming from the person who activated it with us. Everything doesn’t have to match exactly, we just need to see enough to see that it’s not a third party requesting the number. See http://www.TollFreeNumbers.com/push

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions or need help with anything else.

              Matt,

You are setting up a new account so put NEW and don’t put any account number, since that’s what they’re asking about there.

"The Number Administration Summary Report for the week ending Saturday, April 11, 2009, shows a total of 6,358,995 numbers remaining in the spare pool. The quantity of numbers in use decreased by 36,815. A forecast performed in November 2008 indicates the current pool of toll-free numbers will exhaust in July 2017."

This is from the SMS/800 weekly report. I'm going to start posting this each week. Logan Marshall has has been trying to create a panic for a long time with lots of phony stories on his fake smsgov.com site and on tollfreenumber.org too. So I figure the best answer is to his sky is falling attitude is just to post the actual statistics.

We ARE running out of toll free numbers. There is only an 8 year supply left. So the sky is falling, it's just not falling any time soon.

Thanks for the rapid and in-depth response. I am a fairly 'reputed' customer service pro and I am qualified to award you two thumbs up for great service and also think that your focused business strategy is brilliant. It must have taken very strong will to stand up to advisers telling you why you should diversify into telecom solutions as a natural extension. I personally like the fact that you do 'very little', but what you do, you do brilliantly well. Love your website too.

                    Thanks,
                    Rakesh
