Onebox.com claims ownership of your 1-800 #

This is an update of the article I wrote recently about how OneBox.com breaking the rules. One box took over TollFreeMax and TollFreeExpress recently and claimed ownership of all their numbers even though the customer under TFMax and TFExpress both owned the number and had the right to transfer their numbers away. Onebox is ultimately stealing your 800 number and they say they own the numbers and you are stuck with their service.
I’m now even hearing that Onebox is refusing to release numbers even from customers that have transferred their numbers into them, including ones that came from us with proof of ownership. If this is happening to you call me right away and I will get it back for you at no cost at all right away!
I am also told that if you yell and threaten to go to the Federal Communications Commission, they will allow you to transfer your number away. If Onebox claims they aren’t under the FCC because they’re not a phone company, that’s obviously bogus. They’re a responsible organization and they are definitely under the FCC. It’s easy to file an informal complaint and they’ll jump through hoops to clear anything up with the FCC. I think they’re agreeing to release numbers now if you complain enough now because they want to charge their ‘vindictive’ hidden fees. They charge a fee of between $40 and $200 if they do release a number (which every other phone company does for free).
If you don’t want to pay that and want to get it done right away instead of being jerked around for an extra month or two , I’ll be glad to yank it for you, because what they’re doing is just wrong! I would also strongly advice canceling the credit card that they were billing you under. Or you’ll get the vindictive fee charged to you whether you like it or not!
There is also a lawyer pushing for a class action law suit. I’m not promoting that mainly because I don’t think in terms of fighting like that with lawyers. I tend to fight by showing the world what’s going on like I’m doing here. Either way, they are clearly hurting people and someone needs to get the word out.

We did a little checking and Onebox took over a total of 2,878 toll free numbers from TollFreeMax and TollFreeExpress.
1014 800 numbers
556 866 numbers
603 877 numbers
705 888 numbers
Total: 2878 toll free numbers

Hello Mr Quimby.
I would like your assistance in transferring my 800 number from Onebox. Formerly I was with TollFreeMax. I have not yet approached Onebox about making the switch. I’m contacting you because I would like for the transfer to be as painfree as possible.
I also see that you recommend PNG for toll free service. PNG seems to be missing a few “bells and whistles” that I use, like call announce. Are there other services (that you have heard good things about) that offer more options. My major gripe with OneBox is that it takes 3-4 solid rings before my cell phone gets a ring. That is really disturbing to me. Potential customers will hang up.
Let me know how we can move forward.

Just fill out the resporg change form at http://www.tollfreenumbers.com/rcf and fax it back to me at 800-FAX-0095 along with a recent print out of a bill from TFmax.
PNG isn’t the same thing. PNG is regular toll free service not an enhanced voicemail service. See: http://www.tollfreenumbers.com/800-numbers/voicemail#post-2789
It’s $49 and we give you proof of ownership, temporary service and then help you transfer it to any company you want. I would look at Virtual PBX or Freedom Voice, Ringcentral, or Kall8 etc. If you don’t like any of these services or anything happens to them you can transfer it away. They can’t hold you hostage if you have independent proof of ownership.

Everything stated here on your web site at www.tollfreenumbers.com is One Hundred Percent (100%)true. My Toll Free Number has been hijacked. If we can get my established Toll Free Number transfered painlessly then I am all for it. It the Onebox wants to play games I’ll get my Attorney involved in it along with the FCC.
I really appreciate the update Bill and will look forward to your follow up regarding transferring my Toll Free Number to a new and safer haven.

These people do more than just steal telephone numbers. They are stealing their customers prepaid TollFreeMax.com balances.
One of the beautiful things about TollFreeMax was that you could make a payment, in any amount, at any time to create an account credit against which future invoices could be paid. OneBox now refuses to honor the account credit balances that customers built at TollFreeMax, despite their obligation to do so after acquiring the company.
We have an account credit of $93 that OneBox refuses to acknowledge, have had our account moved to an inferior service (that we fled from more than a year ago), and it seems that OneBox is going to try to keep our toll free number, which we paid a premium to purchase directly from the previous owner for “hosting” with TollFreeMax.
AND, as…
Our payment for next month’s service was deducted from our account credit immediately upon issuance of the invoice 2 weeks ago (leaving us with the $93 credit), and OneBox has been threatening us with service deactivation if we don’t pay it again!
They, of course, refuse to correct their “errors.”… yeah, right, errors… HA! These vile thieves know exactly what they are doing.

You really must cancel the credit card you gave them. There’s no way around that with people this vindictive. That’s just my own opinion, but I’m recommending that to anyone trying to leave them.

onebox say we have to show ownership of the tollfree number before they release it.
where can we obtain such verification?
