BIG NEWS: FCC Releasing New 800 Exchanges
The SMS announced that the 16 exchanges in the “1-800″ toll free area code, previously reserved for RCC use (Radio Common Carrier) were being opened up for general use on February 15th. This means 160,000 potential 1-800 numbers however 138,000 of these numbers are still in use so ultimately about 22,000 new numbers will become available. We have compiled a list of the numbers being released and will be marking these numbers available to preorder on 1/15.
The 16 exchanges being released are as follows:
800-202-****
800-212-****
800-302-****
800-312-****
800-402-****

800-602-****

800-702-****

These exchanges were set aside when the current toll free number database was set up. They were supposed to be used for Radio Common Carrier (RCC) use. I believe this was supposed to be a wireless alternative to local land lines, something similar to the Nextel direct connect. They are however, more difficult to maintain and with the high demand for ‘1-800’ numbers, they have decided to phase out the RCC numbers and release the remaining unused numbers in these exchanges for regular toll free use.
We have compiled a list of the active RCC numbers so we can show on our website the ones which should become available and allow customers to request them. We will have the numbers available on 1/15 on our current lookup tool. We are excited to be the only source to check these numbers ahead of time!
Read more about the order process for these numbers and hurry because this is a very unique oppotunity and they definitely won’t last!
