10+ digits on a cell phone

Another issue with some cell phones is that they don’t like phone numbers longer than 7 digits plus the area code. This isn’t all cell phones, and it depends on the hardware, not the cellular network. I don’t think this is really as much of an issue as you might think at first because if you think about human nature, the first reaction if a call doesn’t go through is always to look at the screen which then shows that the digits don’t space out and look correct. Cell phones also have a back button and simply hitting the back button a couple times works fine. The call doesn’t go to anyone else and works fine when the caller takes a minute to think about it.

Some advertisers act it’s bad to make callers think about their phone number. I think that’s absolutely wrong. The whole purpose of your advertising is to get viewers to think about it. If you think about it, this extra effort only helps to insure that these visitors remember your vanity number. There aren’t any statistics because this just isn’t a major issue.
