We don’t play favorites
Sometimes people ask if we can do any better for them on the pricing. I understand that everyone wants a deal but I don’t think it’s fair to give different prices any more than I think it’s fair to treat certain people better than others. If someone is willing to play games with the price, what else are they willing to play games with? Are they giving some people bigger discounts than they’re giving you? If you didn’t ask for a discount would it have been fair for us to charge you more?
The truth is, that we’re too big to operate like a flea market table or a garage sale. We’re not big yet, not are we too big to have everyone making up their own prices. We’re also the only organization in the vanity number business with straight forward upfront prices. Everyone else makes up the price depending on how much they think t customer can afford or how badly they want it. They negotiate with people all the time. But they’re starting at 10 times our most expensive type of number or more.
We have sales every month or so, and we have volume discounts, but we don’t change our prices. We can’t and do the volume of numbers we need to, to make the business work and keep our prices so low. All of our orders also go through the computer and the shopping cart which makes it harder to as flexible.
We also have a very unique business model basing our prices on the time and effort it takes to get them rather than the value of the number to the customer. Sometimes I think it would be nice not to have to sell as many numbers per day or per month, but our goal is to help as many people as possible, not to make as much money as possible on each number.
On my honor I will do my best…
I was an Eagle scout and I’ve always been a very straight forward up front person and I definitely run my business that way. You don’t have to wonder about whether I’ll take the number you want and offer it to someone who’s willing to pay more money or rent it to you like other websites. You don’t have to worry whether I’ll sell your email address or whether there’s some hidden fee or fine print to take advantage of you. And for the same reason you don’t have to worry that I’m giving someone else more access to better numbers or specials either.
The bad news is that we won’t bend the rules for you, but the good news is that we won’t bend the rules to take advantage of you or anyone else either. And nobody else is getting a better deal than you or activating the number you searched for. So ultimately I think you’ll agree that not bending the rules is the best way to run this business and does help people more than bending them for you or anyone, really would.
