Can we tell how many wrong numbers a number will get?
Every toll free number tends to get more wrong numbers than local numbers do, especially “800″s. That’s because there are so many of them advertised and used much more heavily than any local area code. There’s also no way to tell ahead of time how many wrong numbers a number will get. We can do some research to find out how long it’s been since a number was in active status for a regular phone company. But since wrong numbers can come from so many different sources, there’s really no way to predict that.
One thing you can do if your interested is to Google the number. You’ll have to ignore a few fake pages that are just made to fool search engines by listing all numbers. They don’t really mean anything. But if you see something from a yellow pages or especially if you see a couple pages mentioning the same company in the snippet, that is probably the last customer. And if you see a lot of pages for them, then there may be more wrong numbers for that number. Not having real results doesn’t guarantee there won’t be many wrong numbers, because it could be one digit away from a very popular number, but the amount a results is a good indicator.
TIP: If you want to check for wrong numbers, search for the number you’re interested in, on Google, in numeric form, with dashes and in quotes.
We’ll also take back and exchange any number with too many wrong numbers, with the exception of backordered numbers. Backorders are essentially specific custom numbers, rather than numbers off a shelf that can be put back on a shelf. We stand behind our numbers and regular activations, Random800′s, and Premium numbers can all be exchanged if they’re getting too many wrong numbers.
