It looks like it’s an active number with a phone company, but it’s Mcleod USA which a lot of vanity number squatters use so maybe it’s someone saying the number is available because you can buy or rent it from them.

I understand the urge to start with the most obvious term but you should NOT stop there. That’s really not a very brandable number. It’s the most common term in all of your competitor’s advertising so it’s not going to make you stand out. And anyone that sees your advertising will already know you’re in the awning business.

So adding that is kind of like calling your cereal box 1-800 CEREAL. It’s not giving anyone a reason to use you and a competitor can get the number 866-MY-AWNINGS for example, and you can’t stop them. So be more creative and look for something more unique to you and your business that gives people more of a benefit or reason to use you.
