We don’t usually put backorders on sale very often because we have less room to play with them than we do regular activations or premium numbers, and no other phone company can even see those, let along help you get them. But we’re cutting the price of backorders by $50.

This is only for backorders placed during the next week from 7/16 to 7/23. We’ve also cut the backorder request fee from $4.95 to $1.95 this week as well. So if you’ve ever thought about backordering a number, this is definitely the week to do it.

If it’s an 866 number, it’s $145 instead of $195 if we’re able to get it for you, 877 numbers are $345 instead of $399, 888 numbers are $545 instead of $595 and 800 numbers are $745 instead of $795. This only applies to numbers that are requested during this week, no matter when they come out of disconnect and cannot be applied to number already backordered.

This is a great sale but don’t wait, because we’re sending updated 800 watch email reports out today to over 30 thousand people who search for vanity numbers too. And the good numbers go extremely fast and in some cases get requested repeatedly.

    You cannot backorder a number just because it goes to a message saying it’s disconnected. You can only backorder a number with us if the Instant 800 Lookup on the top of the page (at TollFreeNumbers.com) says it’s Disconnected (or changed) and gives you the option to backorder it. If you backorder it, we’ll try to get it for you that first second when it comes out of the disconnect aging process.

      Backorder Charges

      We only accept one backorder per number on a first come first served basis, and everyone else after that gets turned away. These numbers take more time and effort and resources to get than numbers which are currently available, so they cost a little more. The cost isn’t based on the value of the numbers, or the size of the client, etc. It’s just based on the area code since 800s are harder to get than 866s.

      These are one time fees and only charged IF we get the number for you. We charge a small fee of $4.95 when you place a backorder, to do the research for you. We only refund the $4.95 fee the number was already backordered or if it isn’t in disconnect any more.

        A Backorder is an order, not a request or suggestion

        You can cancel backorders up until the date it comes out of disconnect. We’re happy to provide a valuable service to our customers, but if we do the work and get the number you specifically ask us to, payment for the service isn’t optional. If you don’t cancel it before it comes out and we get it, we don’t have the option not to give it to you and you don’t have the option not of pay for it. You’re not getting first dibs on the number, you have ordered the number. So don’t backorder a number unless you are willing to pay for it, if we get it for you.

        It’s OK if your business needs change but YOU have an obligation to let us know in writing if you wish to cancel your backorder. If you notify us via email we will reply and confirm your change. If you don’t receive any confirmation, resend the email and call to follow up. We have no problem cancelling a backorder for any reason BEFORE it comes out of disconnect and we invest the money, time and energy to get it. Backorders can NOT be cancelled or returned after we get them. We are willing to do the work to get the number you specifically order, but all we ask is that you let us know BEFORE we do the work if you no longer want it.

          Within 48 hours after you backorder the number we will do the research and give you the exact date it comes out and we usually give out the phone company it’s with too. The Instant 800 Lookup or 800 Watch emails often give you some indication of the timing. We don’t give out the exact date or the phone company though unless they backorder the number because we don’t want to help anyone else get the number other than the customer who backorders it.

            Regular phone companies can’t get what they can’t see

            It takes a lot of work to dig deeper and see the numbers in disconnect. That’s why no other phone company does anything other than the simple surface level check to see if a number is available or not. Unfortunately since the good numbers get gobbled up within seconds of coming out of disconnect, regular phone companies never even see or have a chance to try for the best numbers. They quite simply can’t possibly win the race if they don’t know it’s running or when and where it starts.

              Cutting In Line

              One of the reasons for the aging process is to allow the end user of reactivate the number if they still want it, before it goes back into the available pool and is up for grabs for anyone else to get. That’s the principle behind the Cutting In Line process. If you get the old owner to sign off on the number you can get the number before it comes out of the aging process. It’s definitely not easy however, to get the old customer information, to track down the old customer, and get them to sign off on and release the number.

              This can be a very difficult process and is only appropriate for really important numbers, or situations where you need the number faster. See the Cutting In Line section for more information.

                Backorder your # before someone else does

                We can only accept one backorder per number and you can only place the backorder on the secure website. Emailing us about your interest doesn’t start t backorder process, or lock in your date. You can backorder multiple numbers with a single backorder request. So if you want an 800 # ending in “word” for example, if we find multiple possibilities, you can backorder them all. We’ll do the research to get the dates and you’ll get multiple chances. As soon as we get one, you can cancel the other backorders, but please don’t forget to cancel them.

                We also never accept backorders over the phone or cancel them over the phone. You vto cancel backorders via email and we will acknowledge your cancellation via email as well. That way we’ve got a paper trail and documented it in case there’s any question.
