Did you forget your Message?
Sometimes people rush into business with a good idea, they spend a few minutes thinking of a couple names and they just pick one. They act like they have a deadline or they’re in a race because they’re so excited about their new business which is a good thing. But sometimes when you’re in a hurry, the urgent things crowd out the important things. The urgent things are often put into a todo list, to start the business.
They need a company name, they need to register that and get a bank account, they need a domain name, they need a phone number, they need business cards and they are ready to start advertising. Unfortunately when you’re going through a list of things to do, it’s easy to overlook or gloss over the most important thing in starting a new business and that’s the Message.
Your message is NOT what type of business you’re in. All of your competitors are in that industry too, so how does that get the prospect to pick you over your competitors? You need to highlight what makes you different, not what you have in common. Why should someone pick you over anyone else? If you don’t know that and focus all of your advertising on that message, how are your prospects going to figure it out.
