There is no short cut
01/03/2008
You’d be surprised how many people seem to believe that there is an easy way to find just the best numbers, or that anyone will sell you their toll free number if you just offer them enough money. There isn’t any secret list or any easy way to find out if you could buy a great number and for how much. I often ask them if there was an easy way to see which of the very best possible toll free numbers were available or could be bought, do you think they would still be available? We have great tools but there is no secret list we keep hiding in the back or any way to show you just the numbers worth a hundred thousand dollars you could get or how much it would ultimately cost.
There’s no secret X-ray glasses we can use to see the good numbers that could be bought any more than there’s any way to spot the girls that would marry you when you walk into a room, or see a list of names. And there’s certainly no way to figure out how much work it would take to get a girl to marry you. Nobody else can figure that out for you either, so it’s not just a matter of finding the right expert that can do all of this for you. Some people may have a list of numbers they own, but that’s like asking a car salesman to show you the used cars on his lot, not acting as a consultant or showing you every possible car for sale. And in the car analogy, imagine if there was no book value for used cars but everyone just picked their own price out of the blue.
Most people also don’t realize how many people look for numbers. We got almost a million queries on our Instant 800 Lookup tool in 2007 and may do twice that in 2008. Over 80% of them are for the top 80,000 numbers which represent the top 1%. That’s an average of 10 queries each. So it’s not a stretch to say that on average, almost 1 person per month is probably inquiring about that number on our website if it spells anything even half way decent. These are just averages so they may or may not apply to the number you’re asking for. But if it’s a pure vanity word these averages are probably very low, and this is just for our little website.
The point is that if there was a short cut or secret way you could just pull up all the best most valuable numbers they would be gone anyway. The closest thing there is to a short cut is our Keyword Search. That works because it’s based on your specific keywords. We do that research for about 30,000 people per month. But everyone puts in their own sets of keywords, so even if you’re in a popular industry you’ll get some different results because you’ll have different words. The trick (if there is one) is to be more creative and thorough than most and to really beat on that tool.
The Keyword Search is free and many people say it’s kind fun when you get into it. Another important trick is to be persistent and watch it every month. (we automatically redo the research for you unless you uncheck the monthly option) And the last trick is to be fast because the best numbers in popular categories get taken very quickly. It’s essentially making the computer do all of the hard work, checking thousands of numbers for you and just sending you the result in a sorted list from most to least valuable. So I guess that’s as close to a shortcut as I think we can get.
If you have any other tricks or short cuts, or questions about tricks or shortcuts post them here.

Do we have a current list of all the good numbers in disconnect and available this month? at TollFreeNumbers.com says:

[…] That question is kind of like asking GoDaddy for a list of just the best domains available right now. If there was really a list of all of the best numbers available, not only would it be out of date by the time you printed it but they would probably all be taken already. That’s why unfortunately There really is No Short Cut. […]
