Can or should I sell my random 8-0-0 number?
There’s a limited number of real 8-0-0 numbers and you can’t get them from regular phone companies any more. So even a random 8-0-0 certainly has some value. We charge $30 more for them than we do for regular numbers from the spare or available pool. We do have to go out and work to locate them for our customers but we don’t look for them one at a time.
We typically look for large blocks of them in order to make it worth the effort to transfer and manage them, just like a store that sells something, doesn’t usually buy them one at a time. If you’ve got hundreds of numbers we’d like to talk to you, but we can’t effectively process them individually or even a couple at a time.
If you think you might need or be able to use a toll free number in the future, you should probably look for a carrier that will keep them active for a small monthly fee, typically of about $2 a month. If you don’t look for someone else that you deal with in your business that might be able to use it. You probably won’t be able to sell it for a lot of money, but you it’s still better to give it to someone that can use it than to just throw it away and you might get a small favor or thank you.
There is no central website to sell 800 numbers on. You can probably list it in the comments coming soon on the search results of our website. You could also list it on ebay. Again it won’t make you a ton of money or get a lot of exposure and I wouldn’t invest a lot of time on it for a random number or even a number that isn’t a really premium number or valuable vanity term.

I may have someone who is interested in purchasing my toll free number. I’m wondering how do I perform the transfer of ownership? Do you offer a service for this where the new owner can get a “Birth Certificate” proving ownership?

I have two 800 numbers that I have not used for five years thinking that I might someday need them. Finally, I have realized that there is no need for them in the future, so I would like to transfer them to a new owner who wishes to have a true 800 number. Any suggestions?

We have used it for our hotel business for 20 years and just find that we no longer need it. Any suggestions on who might be interested and what it might be worth. Interest please call 713.868.1130.
