Using Multiple Websites
Does everyone have access to all the same numbers or do you need to be looking at several websites?
That’s a good question that someone asked me today. The answer is that all major phone companies have access into the national database called the SMS/800, but how they use it and what they’ll do for you varies dramatically and just because they have a website doesn’t make them a major phone company. Some of the websites you find on the internet aren’t searching the national database, they’re only searching their own number pool.
Even more importantly, Searching for 800 Numbers on the wrong website can be a Big Mistake! That’s because the results you find on many (almost all?) websites are automatically reserved, locking you into their service and fees which are usually more expensive, that’s why they want to lock your number up. Our site TollFreeNumbers.com and the AT&T lookup are the only two major sites that don’t automatically reserve the things you find.
There’s also a big difference how phone companies use their access and whether they have direct access into the pool or if they go through other companies. It’s not that most phone companies can’t get the numbers that are available, it’s just that they aren’t set up to do this. You can tell this by how long it takes them to activate a number. Most “Available” numbers are up and working in less than a minute from the time you order them on our website. Most other phone companies measure the set up time in days, typically ranging from 3 to 7 days or more in some cases. Right there that tells you something. It’s not just having access, but being efficient and accountable plus specializing in this that really sets us apart.
There are also several things that we do which no other phone company of any size does. We crunch the entire database deeper to find the numbers in the Disconnect aging process. No other look up tool shows these numbers in disconnect nor do they help you to get them. They just say they’re not available. We also dig deeper and track “Premium” numbers or nice numeric numbers with easier to dial patterns and repetition. It’s also worth pointing out that no other phone company searches for related options or has random numbers available either.
The bottom line is that no other phone company tries as hard as we do to get you good numbers. They don’t have any incentive to because that’s not what they charge you for. They charge for and make their money from the ongoing service. So they’ll try to keep you as a customer for as long as they can. We don’t make money from that. We only make money from getting you a better phone number so that’s what we do and then help you transfer that number with no strings over to whatever company you want to use it with.
If it’s not available on our look up tool it’s not going to be available from any real phone company. The only exception are numbers that someone else already owns and is squatting on and wants to sell you for big bucks or worse yet to “rent” numbers that they own. We don’t play those games. We just do a better job of helping you find the best possible number that you will own with no strings. So feel free to beat on our look up tools and if you have any questions know that our site comes with something no other phone company site has, real people that specialize in the vanity number business and have an incentive to help you get a good number.
