Do you want a toll free number to match your local number?
Some visitors look for a toll free number to match their existing local number. This can look good on your business cards and give you some additional credibility. But it’s really only memorable to people that already remember your number. Matching your local number is certainly better than getting a random number, although it doesn’t create the image or memorability of a vanity number that spells something relevant. But sometimes if you can’t find any memorable vanity number matching your local number is still helpful and we can definitely help you find a good number to match or almost match.
Matching your local number is good for companies that are moving and want their existing customers to still be able to reach them easily, with the matching toll free number instead of the local number. It’s also good for internal numbers that all of your employees use for instance.
3 tips you can use to find 800 numbers to match your local number.
One thing that people sometimes don’t think of is that they could match their fax number. Then people can call the local number for faxes and the toll free number for calls. That gives you a couple more possible numbers that would match.
Another way to find something if the exact match isn’t available, is to include the area code. For instance if your local number is 845-471-4664 and 8**-471-4664 isn’t available, you could search for 8**-845-4714, since that’s the first seven digits of your 10 digit local number. That gives you a couple more possibilities to match too.
One last tip for matching your local number is to look for toll free misdials to the exact match. Those will be just one digit away. This is a great trick for finding numbers “like” your existing local number. Use the keyword search and put in your 7 digit number followed by (z9) so for the example number above, the keyword would be 471-4664 (z9). That’ll check almost 500 numbers and give you a list of numbers that are available or in disconnect that are just one digit away.
