Why we make 800 service recommendations?
Someone recently asked me a couple questions that I thought was worth adding on the website.
First of all we make recommendations because our customers need them. It would be wrong to give someone a number without giving them any help on where to take it for the service and ongoing use. We also have years of experience in this business so it would be wrong not to try to pass that experience and knowledge on. That’s what a lot of our website is designed to do, to educate customers which is why I thought this was worth passing on, because if one person thought this was worth asking, there are probably other people that wonder about things like this as well.
The industry actually doesn’t work the way the question suggests it does. We are agents for Opex and PNG, but that’s because it’s necessary to have an agent to use their service. If you call them directly they will refer you back to an agent, and they will tell you it takes longer because and requires more forms and might quote you a higher rate. We offer it at the lowest price, have simplified the paperwork and streamlined the process if you use the people and fax numbers I recommend, so it’ll get done in two days instead of a week or two.
I can also check on the status if necessary, which is hard to do if you just send it to the company in general. If you call the main number of either of those companies you won’t get anyone that knows about toll free service any better than you would with any other phone company too. That’s why I don’t recommend that people call up to ask questions.
There’s no Perfect Phone Company
I’ll be honest and tell anyone that there is no perfect phone company, nor is there even one phone company that’s the best for everyone, despite what people trying to sell you something claim. That’s why we have a couple different options to recommend based on the situation. The bottom line is that you’re not going to find any better deals with a significant real phone company (not a fake phone company) not to mention anyone that gets it down as quickly or easily.
Honestly though, I don’t pay the bill and don’t recommend them because of the price. I recommend them because they do a good job. Nobody’s going to come back to me and complain if they find someone offering it for a tenth of a penny cheaper, but they are going to come back to me if there’s a problem with them. That’s why my main concern is that the companies we recommend do a good job overall. Again, they’re not perfect and I don’t expect any of them to please everyone every time. But to suggest that we are recommending someone based on a kickback and that this raises up the price is totally absurd.
We make honest recommendations for companies and against some too, for a reason. We recommend against some companies such as Onebox, GotVmail and TollFreeNumber.org because of our experience with them and the feedback we get from other customers. We certainly still release numbers to them, but our customers come to us for our opinion.

I have questions on whether I was supposed to forward the number to my cell phone (preferred) or if it had to go to a land line. I also have questions about charges per minute for calls coming in on the number and any other monthly charges. I also want to know if once I own the number, can I port it to another company if I do not like the monthly prices/fees, or service that I am recieving. Are there any time contracts? The charges are based on whatever company you want to use for the ongoing service. We give you free temporary service for the first thirty days or 100 minutes of use, and then we help you transfer it to whatever company you select for the ongoing service. Not only is there no contract but because you had the number active before transferring it to whatever company you want to use it with, they can’t hold you hostage and keep you from transferring the number away. Many services will say that if you got the number from them that they provided it as part of their service so you can cancel the number but can’t take the number with you if you want to leave.
