Can we check our Inventory?
No matter how many times or ways I say it, I feel like everyone still assumes that we have a secret inventory or stockpile. It’s a little complicated and we do several things in order to provide as many good options for customers as possible. But the best way to explain it is that we’re like the GoDaddy of the phone number business. You can’t get some types of numbers from the spare pool, but most of what we do comes out of the spare or available pool. But ultimately we’re really not working from a secret 800 number list.
There are over 6 Million Toll Free Numbers Available!
With over 6 million numbers in the available pool, it’s obviously not like asking if you have a certain size shoes. It’s a database, not a list so you have to query it like a database. You can’t just ask for “nice” numbers or anything non-specific like that. Think like a computer and make specific queries. We work hard to put everything possible into the databases and make them available right online because we can’t possibly keep track of things manually. I have a hard enough time remembering the names of people that just called. That’s why we work so hard to make such powerful lookup tools available for free right on the website.
So when you ask us if we have a good number for a certain business we obviously want to help you, but it really doesn’t work that way. You can query the database and see what we have and we’re really not hiding any secret numbers.

Aren’t you basically just a “big vanity # squatter” too?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I’m not a squatter for two reasons. First we get most of the numbers customers request directly from the available pool at the customer request. This is more like a domain name registrar than a domain name squatter. That’s the context that the term Squatter is usually used and where I took it from.
The second reason we’re not a Squatter is because we’re the only one in the vanity number business that doesn’t set the price based on the estimated value of the number. Our fees are only based the time and effort required to get the number. Most vanity number companies vary the pricing quite a bit based on a couple other things like how deep the pockets of the prospect look as well. That’s because their goal is clearly to get as much as possible for each number.
Our prices simply don’t vary. We usually have a sale once a month but our prices are very clear and straight forward. Backorders are based on the area code of the toll free number, but that’s because the competition is a lot higher for ’800′ numbers than 866 or 877 numbers. Random 800 numbers take more time and effort to get than regular numbers available from the spare pool, so we charge $79 for them instead of $49.
So we’re really not a squatter any more than AT&T or Verizon. We simply work harder to help you find good numbers and go the extra mile to come up with options than regular phone companies don’t and can’t. That’s not wrong or inappropriate and it’s good for the customer and the industry.
