Creativity in deli meat!
People often come here “married” to their first idea, that one perfect number that matches their name or business. When I tell them they need to be more creative they always say their business and situation is unique and justify why they absolutely need to get that one perfect number and why nothing else will do By the way they never even came up with any alternatives because they had already decided on what they wanted. So when I see a good example of creativity that can help people realize how important it is to think outside of the box, I like to highlight and share that.
This example also proves you can be creative in ANY industry too, because if you made a list of industries there’s no room for creativity in, deli meat would be right up there. That’s why when I heard this number on the radio this morning I knew I had to use that as an example for people who think they can’t be creative.
I don’t know if Boarshead tried to get 8**-BOARSHEAD or not. It’s not available, but even if it was, 877-FLIM-FLAM in this context is much more powerful than 877-BOARSHEAD would be. It also shows that if you integrate the theme of the commercial into the number (or vice versa?) it can turn a base hit into extra bases or even a home run in the right situation.
So kudos to Boarshead for it’s creativity in 877-FLIM-FLAM and showing how the right number can really make an advertising campaign!
