Another Phone Company Excuse
If your phone company says they can’t transfer your number because it’s not active, this post is for you. The simplest way to respond to them is just to say you t toll free number is active, it’s just to say that the toll free number IS active. But it’s only accessible from a very limited area on the current carrier.
If you’re familiar with domain names, what would you think if a registrar told you that they couldn’t transfer your domain name if it’s not going to a real webpage when they type it into their browser. You’d obviously think they were being ridiculous! Well, what your phone company is telling you when they say they can’t transfer it is just as ridiculous.
It’s easier to just tell them it’s working but not from their area than trying to correct them and explain the difference between working and being active in the national database. Even if your free temporary service expires it’s still your number and perfectly able to be transferred, if they will just put the request through.
If you want to prove your number is active, ask them to dial the Ameritech hotline, 800-337-4194. If you enter a number that isn’t active in the national database that system will say it’s not in their database. If it gives out a phone company name or code, it’s active. And if they Ask you for a current bill copy, give them the Toll Free Birth Certificate™ And if you have any other questions give us a call any time at 1-800 MARKETER, especially if the other rep is still available so we can talk directly to them and not make you bounce back and forth in the middle.
