Toll Free Simplifried and eggsplainedAs we keep adding information and material related to toll free numbers getting more and more in depth into various topic it’s easy to lose tack of the basics and what the new customer really needs – a short simple explanation of toll free service. So I’ve tried to boil down the essence of our site and service into 17 sentences. I’m going to try to add a video to this post going over these 17 sentences soon too.

  1. A toll free number is free for the caller (hence the name toll free) and the owner of the toll free number basically just pays for the cost of the incoming call as if they made it themselves.

  2. A toll free number is a virtual number that just rings to or forwards to whatever local number you specify, including your existing home or work number or even any cell phone or voip line or any non-toll free number anywhere in the US or Canada..

  3. A toll free number can start with 800, 888, 877, or 866 and doesn’t require any additional equipment and doesn’t affect or change the local number it points to.

  4. A toll free number that spells something is called a “vanity number” and it doesn’t cost any more per call than a random number but can be worth its weight in gold because like a memorable domain name, it’ll increase the response rate to all of your advertising.

  5. A toll free number is the front door to your new business and a good vanity number makes you look bigger, more successful and like a larger nationwide company and they’re much cheaper and easier to set up than most people realize.

  6. It’s usually not easy to find great numbers so be creative and don’t limit yourself just to the first thing you think of, generic terms, only ‘800’ numbers, or vanity numbers with only 7 digits.
