4 Step Process to getting a great Toll Free Number!
People often ask what the process is so I’ve tried to simplify and explain our process as much as possible, into 4 simple steps.
1. Find a Good Number
Probably the majority of our site is geared toward this step because this is the biggest weakness of most phone companies. But it’s our main focus because we know how vital a good front door is to all of your marketing. Check out our Search Section that explains each of our two main search tools, the Toll Free Search Engine and the Keyword Lookup. This post also simplifies the search process into 5 sentences.
2. Place your order
You can Activate whatever number you find available or backorder it if it’s in disconnect. There is information on Activations and Backorders in sections of our site. But this is extremely easy and just takes filling out a form online. We’re the only ones that do this anywhere near this quickly and easily.
3. Pick a Provider
Getting independent proof of ownership and being able to pick any provider you want at any time is much more important than most people ever realize, because that’s what guarantees that you’ll always have good service and a competitive rate. We make it as easy as possible by giving you a few good options in the toll free manual which we email within 24 hours after you activate the number. (some of the toll free manual is also online at http://www.TollFreeNumbers.com/manual/) We’re also developing a comprehensive provider database to as this easier as well. You can contact your local phone company and transfer the number there too, but you do NOT need to use the same company that provides the physical line to get the toll free calls to that physical line if you don’t want to.
4. Transfer your 800 number
You’ll need to request an 800 transfer form (often called a Responsible Organization Change Form) to authorize the new company to take over your number. We’ll give you the forms for a couple good companies that are probably cheaper and better than you’d usually find yourself to make it as easy as possible. You just give this simple form to the new carrier and they’ll put it into the system and send us the request as soon as they’re ready for us to release it. And we release them the same day we get the request, faster than anyone.
That’s the basic process. We have a lot of information on every aspect but you really shouldn’t make it too complicated. You can do most of it right online, but it’s important to know that there are real people available if you have any questions or need anything else at all too.

I purchased my vanity number a few months ago. At that time i found my own service provider but now I’m having problems. Can you provide me with a list of your service providers? My vanity number is 877 ICANWRITE. Thanks.

Hi Debbie,
We’re working on the Providers section. I think I’ve recently come up with the right database and platform to use. We were trying to do it with Wordpress but you can do the type and amount of sorting and comparisons that we want to do. A list of companies isn’t really that helpful. There are lists of phone companies on the web. But there isn’t any place with researched data like we’re building, reviews and customer ratings etc.
Back to your question though, there are a couple options in the toll free manual. But we are working on creating a real resource for that.

I do not understand this process. If I register a toll-free number, it can be directed to another number - even a fax number, for a one-time fee?

Mark,
Yes. A toll free number is like a remote call forwarded number and just forwards the calls to whatever local number you want to answer them on. We only charge a one time fee and then help you transfer it to any company you want for the ongoing service and you’re guaranteed to be able to transfer it away as long as you pay your bill with them. They can’t hold you hostage and your ability to transfer the number is what keeps them honest. So we’ll help you pick the best number and then not help you transfer it whoever is the best company for you but guarantee that you can always use it through whoever is the best in the future too. Oh and we give you free temporary service for the first 30 days or 100 minutes too. All for a one time fee of just $49.
