Blogging about 800 numbers
06/18/2008
I’ve gotten into a habit of posting one 800 number related post per day on weekdays for the past several weeks and I’ve also gotten the hang of including pictures, headlines and the appropriate keywords, tags and so forth. And it’s been cool because I’ve already started to see some good results. It’s very gratifying to see the new posts ranking really well for things within 24 hours.
By the way, if you post two relevant comments in different posts on our website we remove the nofollow tags to give our commenters live links to their site from their comment. So add your two cents a couple times and we’ll give a little back to you too.
Some recent blogs and their rankings
I posted the response to TollFreeNumber.org’s lawyer responding to the Hidden Fees post and Is TollFreeNumber.org lying post on Sunday evening and on Monday not only was that post ranking just below TollFreeNumer.org’s own site when you search for their name, but it was also ranking just below their lawyer, Aaron P. Morris’ own site, the lawyer’s own site for his name too.
If you search for onebox+tollfree or onebox+800 and our site comes up right below the company one and if you search for onebox+fees on Google our post even comes up ahead of the onebox.com website.
On Friday I heard the commercial for 877-FLIM-FLAM by Boarshead and by Saturday my post was already ranking right above Boarshead’s own page for the Flim Flam campaign.
It takes some effort to write up something every day. Our niche is so unique that I have no shortage on ideas or things to write about. The trick is just finding the time and focusing on it enough. But being able make them look good and seeing the results show up so quickly definitely makes it feel worthwhile. Often it’sjust writing the answer to a question I received that day a little more thoroughly.
I think it’ll be a year in August since we started using the blog format. And we have over 2,000 posts and 500 comments. I think the comments would be higher if we used a more traditional blog look. I think most people that come to and use our website don’t realize that it’s actually a wordpress blog. Anyway, I hope it’s been as worthwhile for our visitors and subscribers.
