Backorder statistics
09/02/2007
People in the vanity number business almost always get a lower percentage than other regular business customers. That’s because people in the vanity number business are only looking for the most obvious, best of the best numbers that are usually worth tens of thousands of dollars. Those are the ones that other vanity number squatters go after too.
I realize it’s frustrating to see great numbers and not be able to get them. But it’s probably equally frustrating if not more frustrating for us than it is for them. We don’t charge them if we don’t get a backorder so the odds of getting that jackpot numbers so we have a built in incentive. It’s funny how some people question us and keep a batting average as if they were paying for the number whether we got it for them or not.
And asking why we don’t just get the same program that the Black Hole uses is more than a little naïve to say the least. We pay about 2-3% of the SMS 800 fees that the Black Hole does. If we raised our fees to 50 times as much, forgetting the fact that we wouldn’t sell as many, we’d still only have the SAME level of connectivity that they have so we still wouldn’t get 100%. And how many people really want to pay $40,000 for an $800 number coming out of disconnect?
The problem really is that if you want the really best numbers that are worth so much, you are naturally going to get a lower percentage. There’s no way around that no matter how many computers and programs anyone has. The bottom line is that we want to get these numbers for you as much as you do. And if there was a simple way to improve it, we would obviously do it. But then other people would too and it wouldn’t actually improve anything.
You can try cutting in line, which is NOT easy to do. You can backorder more numbers or backorder numbers that fewer people will want. We are certainly going to continue to do our best and look for ways to improve our odds for you every chance we get!
