How to get Random ‘800’ numbers
We all know ‘800’ numbers are preferable. They’re a brand name, like the .com of the domain name business. They give credibility and make you look like a larger more established company. They’re the best and in higher demand but that’s probably also why you can’t get them from most phone companies and there haven’t been any ‘800’ numbers at all, even random 800 numbers in the spare pool during the day for about two years.
We’ve even experimented by releasing a random ‘800’ number and trying to re-reserve it and it gets taken in less than a second every time, at any time of the day. There are some Resporgs that have literally set up an automated system to submit requests for any ‘800’ number all day long. When they come out at night they are taken within seconds and we’re lucky if we can get one request through before they’re just gone.
More and more customers are coming to us for Random 800 numbers.
That’s why regular phone companies simply don’t have any more ‘800’ numbers and customers have been asking us for an easy way to get just random ‘800’ numbers. Phone companies that do have a few usually only give them to their biggest customers or at least require you to use their service, and switching companies just to get a better number isn’t usually practical.
There are two ways to order Random 800 numbers.
You can use the Random 800 order form and just change the quantity to however many you need and put ‘Random 800’ in the Desired Number box on the order form. We will give you the next X number of random numbers available. This is the quickest and easiest way to order them.
You can also use the Toll Free Search Engine on the top of the page at TollFreeNumbers.com. Any query will have 16 Random 800 numbers with an (R) for Random next to them in the second box of the results. You can also enter 7*s (***-****) or just leave the white box blank which the lookup treats as all *s. This will usually find several random numbers in the Search Results box too. Either way you can get a several random numbers to chose from.
UPDATE: We’ve added another easier way to order Random Numbers
Just click on the red dice at the bottom of the left column. That brings you straight to the random number order form! Random numbers are definitely getting much harder to get and we have had to cancel the volume discounts and raise the price. We may not have them in the future, but we still have some left as of 12/08.

Someone ordered a random ‘800’ number with the standard activation order form for $49 instead of the Random 800 number order form (http://www.TollFreeNumbers.com/random800) for $79.
We responded politely that we can’t honor that order and offer to change it to another Currently Available number or change it to an order for a Random800 ($79) or simply to just refund it.
Most people understand the difference and either find another currently available number or ask us to correct the order. However, we had a customer today that complained that we have to honor what our website says.
I figured I’d post this response just for future reference:
Our website says it’s $49 for numbers that are “Currently Available” meaning that they are in the spare pool. It says that in a variety of places but it’s pretty consistent. See http://www.TollFreeNumbers.com/price Unfortunately there are NO ’800′ numbers in the “currently available” status.
So we have worked out additional sources of “800″ numbers that we can’t get any more from the spare or available pool. We pay more money for these and they clearly take more time and effort than numbers freely available in the spare pool. It seems silly to insist that we shouldn’t charge more for things that take more time and effort.

So I’m sorry if you were confused or didn’t understand how our system works, but we set the standard for honesty and integrity in this business where most people get away with almost anything hiding in the shadows.
If you do a lookup for the number you ordered you’ll see it doesn’t say Currently Available, and the link brings you to the proper order form. I’m sure it was an honest misunderstanding. We know you didn’t go around the $79 price intentionally. But please don’t attack us because you didn’t understand and ordered the number wrong. If you do a search for that number and click on the link it does go to the correct order form to charge you $79 as it’s supposed to.
You’re the customer and we’re happy to help you and want to earn your business. The only question is whether you want to find a number that says ‘Currently Available’, to change the order to $79 or just refund it. If I don’t hear back from you by the end of the day I’ll refund it with no problem.
