Blocking calls and limiting your calling area

You can limit your toll free number to any territory you want.

You can control the area of service with a toll free number. The normal areas of service are the continental 48 states, the entire US, the entire US and Canada or the US, Canada and a few territories in the Caribbean too. (The default for US companies is usually just the 48 states unless you specify otherwise.) But you can also select states or area codes individually as well. You can even go below the state or area code level but that gets a little trickier to set up and maintain.

Certain businesses only deal with customers in a limited area so they won’t get many calls from outside their area. Blocking those unnecessary areas is often a strategy for dealing with wrong numbers or misdials. Unfortunately though, voip lines and cell phones are tending to make those geographic assumptions incorrect. Today, your next door neighbor can have a cell phone or voip line from anywhere in the country. So we usually don’t recommend blocking calls from areas you don’t need unless it’s absolutely necessary because you’ll lose some local callers too.

    Is there a way we can see call log for the number? We are performing some tests here and would like to see volume. Also, what will happen if we go over 100 minutes in the initial month, can we pay directly to
    you?

      We don’t get or prepare a normal phone bill for the usage on the temporary service. We get a spreadsheet that shows the usage most days and when it’s getting close to going over the usage we’ll try to let people know before it has to be shut off. You can pay for a one time extension but it’s cheaper and you get more information from the regular phone company so that’s really the solution I think you need.
