The down side of being honest and upfront on the Internet
Whenever you’re successful there are always a few people trying to tear you down. And unfortunately when you’re honest and open with people it gives them even more of a target to shoot at. This is especially true on the internet where some people love to say vicious things about other people just for fun. Add to that the fact that I give people my honest opinion about companies and point out negative things that go on within the industry and you’re gonna get a few stones thrown at you.
I’m not complaining. I can take the name calling. And I’d rather be honest and open about my business, who I am and the things that I see and write about, even if it means I get a few pies in my face, because I love the customers and helping people in our business. I do worry that some people may not realize how ridiculous the criticism is or that if it’s being written by someone anonymously there’s usually no truth to it at all.
We don’t have almost 2,000 real customer testimonials for nothing!
This is one of the reasons why we put so much effort into collecting and displaying actual customer testimonials. It’s kind of like your ebay score. And I also try to include logos or pictures as much as possible because I think that’s important to show that they’re real. Any business with tens of thousands of customers is going to have one or two, problem complainers and this is important because it reminds people how many satisfied customers you’ve had.
I admit that I’ve ruffled a few feathers and that I tend to be a little tough and don’t back down when companies do things that I think are wrong. Sometimes I’m just too much of a boy scout. And when people doing something wrong don’t have the facts on their side, they tend to attack you personally.
I don’t take the occasional attack too seriously and you shouldn’t either. Click through any of the almost 2,000 testimonials we currently have and ask them about us. Or better yet, pick up the phone and call us. We’re very up front and honest and we know this business. And the fact that some little people attack us only proves that we are really successful. Because if you’ve been on the internet, running a successful online business for years and you’ve never had complainers, you really are doing something wrong.
Examine the Source
The ironic part is that the only negative things written about me were never customers at all. They try to imply that they were, but they are essentially from competitors or in a business that we talk about or warn people about. And they can’t or don’t want to talk about the issues but just anonymously make up horrendous stuff. So don’t let it get to you. Talk to anyone here and you’ll know the truth very quickly.
