Backorder Charges

We only accept one backorder per number on a first come first served basis, and everyone else after that gets turned away. These numbers take more time and effort and resources to get than numbers which are currently available, so they cost a little more. The cost isn’t based on the value of the numbers, or the size of the client, etc. It’s just based on the area code since 800s are harder to get than 866s.

866 #s - $195
877 #s - $395
888 #s - $595
800 #s - $795

These are one time fees and only charged IF we get the number for you. We charge a small fee of $4.95 when you place a backorder, to do the research for you. We only refund the $4.95 fee the number was already backordered or if it isn’t in disconnect any more.

Bill~~thank you so much for all the information. I can see how the number would be very desirable, and thus snapped up in seconds. Is there some way to determine what our position is in the queue? Would you recommend we register for other numbers as well, as a backup?

It’s not a “Que”, we only accept ONE backorder for any number. Anyone else is turned away. Then when it comes out, it’s a race to get them. We get about 50% overall.

You can backorder multiple numbers at one time for no extra, if you find multiple numbers that would work. We will do the research and give you the dates for each of them. We can’t change the order that they’re pitched but that does give you more swings. And you can always ask to cancel any number that you don’t like as much that comes out before the ones you really want. So some people do multiple backorders and then cancel everything else as soon as they get one or however many they needed.

We have a client that likes an 8-0-0 number in disconnect, but may have an issue with the $795. I’m going to put the number on back order, but is there a way you might be able to work with us on the $795?

        Thanks again!

          Suzy,

I often say that we’re the Go Daddy of the phone number business because we are the only people in the vanity number business that charges based on the time and effort necessary to provide the service, not the value of the numbers. We really can’t change or renegotiate the prices for every customer and do the volume necessary to cover the cost of providing the service. Maybe we’re not quite up to the size and scale of a huge supermarket but we’re certainly a few steps above a garage sale or street fair, where we can haggle over the price. If you can haggle over the price isn’t that kind of like admitting that your prices are too high?

I also don’t personally think it’s a little unfair to charge different people different prices. I think that’s one of the big differences between our service and all of the other number squatters in the vanity number business. They are more like car salesmen and are ultimately trying to get as much for every car as they possibly can. That means you have to be careful how much you tell them you need a number or how big you are because they will jack up the price. We don’t do that.

So the bad news is that we don’t play with the pricing much, but the good news is that we don’t play with the pricing too. I should also point out that an ‘800’ number in disconnect is one of our most expensive things we offer (because they are one of the most difficult things we do!). The vast majority of our customers only spend $49. If anyone can’t afford $795 for a toll free number, that is perfectly fine. They should just look for a number that will work for them in the available pool, or at least a disconnected number that isn’t an ‘800’ number.

[…] A backorder does NOT guarantee that you’ll get the number, but if we do get it, it’s yours and we charge you $195 for an 866, $395 for an 877, $595 for an 888, and $795 for an 800, and we give you free temporary service and then help you transfer it to any other phone company […]

We Googled around looking for a vanity number as well as voice mail service, but after reading the fine print on most of the service providers websites we realized that the providers would technically own our number, meaning that we couldn't take it with us if we decided to switch to another service later. Luckily we stumbled upon TollFreeNumbers.com and were able to secure a number that "wasn't available" according to the other providers. Instead of renting a second-choice number, we now own the number that we wanted all along. Thanks Bill!800 sports weasel

As a small business owner, I really appreciated Bill's plain-english, straight-up approach to this service. The provided information was exactly -what I needed to know, the prices were uncommonly reasonable and the customer service was superb! I also *really* appreciated the compiled list of numbers that I received shortly after my inquiry -- fantastic! It made identifying the right number for my business a simple decision.

"So called industry experts say that they don't know how Mr. Quimby is able to make a living, but that is only a vain attempt to cover their greed. Mr. Quimby has gained my loyalty, as he has done for thousands across the country. This loyalty has guaranteed him longevity in a business dominated by underhanded corporate suits who would love nothing more than to see him fail.
