Transferable to the carrier of your choice
We not only allow you to transfer your number away to another carrier, we are the only one which actually requires it. This is the only way we can honestly do this as a consultant and work with a wide variety of different services, rather than doing it to sell you “our‿ service. This allows us to be totally independent and besides there really is no one carrier that’s the best for everyone. It may seem more complicated this way, but they all have different strengths and this is the only way we can help you get the truly best possible service for you along with the best possible number for your business.
If a carrier or phone company representative sent you here, the simplest thing is to go back to them. You aren’t required to use the same service for the toll free number as you do for the number that it points to, but it may save you from having to set up a new account.
All you need to do to transfer your number to any carrier is to get their responsible organization change form (often abbreviated as a Resporg form or a LOA). Just complete that form with your name and information and then return it generally by fax to the new carrier along with the Toll Free Birth Certificate™. There is more information about transferring your number in the Toll Fre Manual we email you or the Resporg Section of the website, but that’s the quick summary.
We also protect you after you transfer it away to another carrier too. Phone companies or customers can make mistakes and sometimes numbers get canceled or disconnected by mistake. We check all the numbers we’ve released every month to make sure your number doesn’t get disconnected by mistake. We’ll contact you if we ever see that the number we got for you is disconnected. We provide this ongoing monitoring for all of our customers at no charge. No other phone company does anything like this. It’s just one more example of how we go the extra mile to help our customers.

Interested in obtaining a toll-free number ASAP! However, my carrier is provided through “Ring Central” - which I plan to drop any day now. Can I obtain a number from you until I get a local carrier, if so, how long will you hold my number until I transfer it locally?

Lisa,
We can certainly help you. We’re kind of like the GoDaddy of the phone number business. You can take any number you get from us to any carrier you want. And more importantly you’ll be able to take it away when you want to leave, because they can’t say they got you the number as part of their service and hold onto it.
You can also activate a number without knowing who you want to transfer it to. You can’t leave it forever, but we’re in the business of helping customers find good numbers, not take them away. So we don’t have a specific deadline to transfer them. But if you leave them for more than a year we may charge you a parking fee.
It’s probably a good idea not to transfer your number to a company you’re going to be switching away. I would also point out that setting up a toll free number with a new company is a good way to test them out. If they do a good job and are responsive when you do that they will probably good and responsive when you use them for your long distance too.
