Better proof of ownership

    If I activate the number for the $49 - am I the actual owner of the number or just the user???

    I have another number that I thought I purchased and it turns out that I am not the owner and the company (accessline) is the owner…. How can I aquire ownership of a number that is currently in my use if I am not the owner???

      Yes, Definitely! Any number you get from us, you “own” or have all of the end user rights to with no stings. You can transfer it to any phone company you want, with any coverage area you want and any local ring to number too. And een more importantly, you’ll be able to transfer it away too!

      Some smaller phone companies do blur the lines and try to act like phone companies and end users at the same time. But if you get a number from us, even if you want to use it with Accessline (which is overall a pretty decent service in my experience), they can’t say that they got that number for you as part of their service because you had it active before it was transferred to them so you are guaranteed to be able to transfer it away (as long as your business relationship is current).

      The second part of your question is trickier. I think you’re asking otherwise can you get the end user rights to that number you set up through Accessline. I don’t know the history so I can’t give you much specific advice about that particular case, but there’s no good answer to your question, especially if you sign the type of contracts that are written to give them all of the control and guarantee you get screwed, which is what most shared use contracts amount to.

      If you didn’t sign that type of a contract, and if they were acting as the phone company, not an end user, and if it was activated originally for you, and if you have the use of it nationwide, (which is a lot of IFs I realize), then I think you have a strong enough case that filing a complaint or threatening to file a complaint would probably get you somewhere.

      I would suggest starting on a friendly basis with them because simply communicating with someone above the representatives that answer the phone may be enough to work it out with them. Accessline is a regular service and really isn’t in business to screw people. There are some shared use services which are literally in business to screw people, renting them a number and then once the customer is committed to it, raising up the price ridiculously. But Accessline isn’t one of them. So don’t start by filing a complaint at the FCC with them, just start by being nice. It might be worth simply sending a card or gift basket or gift certificate or something that you make or sell to the president just to thank them for the service they have provided you. That makes an impression on them and may make them more inclined to do you a favor than hiring lawyers to complain and file formal complaints would.

          Yes you are the “owner”, and have all of the end user rights. It’s not rented or leased to you. We only charg a one time search fee to activate it and you can keep it as long as you want, as long as you pay your bill and keep it active with whatever company you transfer it to. You can use it as long as you want and can transfer it away to whatever company you want. No company can hold you hostage by your number because you had it active before transferring it to them.
